Albergue Alvarella

We are located close to the Fragas do Eume Natural Park, one of the most interesting natural sites in northern Galicia, and also very near cities of great cultural and urban interest such as Ferrol (20 km), Betanzos (15 km), Pontedeume (5 km), and A Coruña (25 km), with the beaches of Miño, Perbes, and Cabanas just 10 minutes away from our facilities.

The hostel is located on a 50,000 square metre property. It consists of a building designed for group tourism, with 12 rooms for 2-5 people, two of which are adapted for people with disabilities, all with private bathrooms and heating. It is located halfway between the forest and the valley landscape, built on a terraced platform and hidden under the trees, serving both as a hideaway and a nature observatory. The hostel is not just a place to stay, but also a centre for learning and initiation into environmental culture, incorporating bioclimatic and ecological construction solutions, harnessing solar and wind energy.

There are also other common areas such as the swimming pool, dining room, ‘palleira’ (multi-purpose room), sports court, traditional games area, and large green spaces.

We offer groups workshops and activities related to environmental education in connection with the Fragas do Eume Natural Park, the Eume Historical Heritage, renewable energies, the Atlantic coastline, and waste and water recycling, as well as hiking, horse riding, and canoeing routes.

In the surroundings of Alvarella, you can find all kinds of contrasts without losing either the tourist or natural appeal. Notable cities include A Coruña and Ferrol, as well as smaller towns like Betanzos and Pontedeume, which have retained their timeless charm. You can also discover natural spaces such as the beautiful Vilarrube Beach or get lost in the vastness of the Atlantic forest of the Fragas do Eume.
